Divorce
It is commonly said that Divorce or family breakdown is one of the most stressful of life's experiences. We can advise and support our clients through this difficult process, advising on all related issues such as finances and property.
One of the most contentious areas relates to the division of property and assets upon a divorce. We can advise on these issues and can arrange representation at Court should that become necessary.
Injunctions
Sadly some relationship breakdowns are accompanied by allegations of violence or harassment. In appropriate cases we will help clients obtain an order against the other party to prohibit such behaviour.
We can apply to court for an order freezing assets or preventing the sale of property where it is suspected one party may dispose of assets to prevent a fair financial settlement.
We can apply to court for an order relating to children and their removal from the jurisdiction of the court.
Children
We can deal with disputes regarding the residence and contact with children.
Above all, it is frequently the children who suffer the most when a family unit breaks down. Some of the most difficult issues concern the future care and welfare of children. The Children Act 1989 provides the Courts with a wide range of powers in relation to children. The Courts can make orders directing with whom the children are to live, and the Courts have power to resolve difficulties relating to contact between children and absent parents.
Public Funding (formerly Legal Aid) available:
We have a Public Funding contract in Matrimonial work. These contracts are a quality seal confirming that we provide a "Quality Service Approved by the Legal Services Commission".
